My first blog!!!!

Hello fellow bloggers. This is new to me, but here I go! Our blog will be looking into library tecnology: past, present and future. I'm sure we all remember the good ol days of card catalogs, which are now obselete. Computers have taken over the library (as well as the rest of the world) and for the few, like myself, have to figure things out along the way. I work in an elementary school library so the questions I get asked like "Where are the Junie B. Jones books?", are quite easy for me to handle. Anything above those "elementary" questions may take me some time to investigate for the answer. With all that said, I look forward to this class and this assignment to teach me how to become more "tech savvy"!!! Soon I hope to be posting images and becoming an expert blogger!

While I love the ease of finding everything online, I have to admit to missing those old card catalogs! When I was little it was like a treasure hunt to find what i needed in the drawers, and then track down the books on the shelves! Typing it in will just never be the same.....sigh.;-)

Don't worry, you're not alone with all this learning. At least it sounds like you have some experience working within a library. I just started volunteering at my wife's high school library about a month ago. Talk about intimidating! Hopefully we'll all gain some knowledge from these LT classes that will help us contribute more to the field.

Gosh, I feel so much younger than the rest of the group. I hardly remember card catalogues...Just in 4th grade when the teacher took us to the library and the librarian was teaching us how to use them. I was so confused I stopped listening shortly after she started talking. LOL. I just wanted to grab a book and read I didn't care how I found it.
